Labour MP Wes Streeting on trans debate: ‘Men have penises, women have vaginas’
Shadow health secretary’s comments follow Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner rejecting framing of question
From Independent (UK)

March 30, 2022
A Labour frontbencher has broken ranks in the discussion over trans rights and declared that "men have penises, women have vaginas".
Characterising his comments as a "biology lesson", Wes Streeting, the shadow health secretary said he however believed trans rights should be debated in a "respectful" way.
It comes after Keir Starmer and his deputy Angela Rayner both rejected the framing of the question about genitalia – which broadcasters have taken to asking politicians.
MPs touring the studios in recent weeks have been subjected to questioning over whether they believe someone with a penis can identify as a woman.
Appearing on TalkRadio with host Julia Hartley-Brewer, Mr Steeting replied: "Men have penises, women have vaginas, here ends my biology lesson." … read full article

Trans cyclist Emily Bridges blocked from Laura Kenny race
Move comes as swimming tightens rules for women’s events after Lia Thomas controversy
From The Times (UK)
By John Westerby, Craig Lord
March 30, 2022
A late intervention from cycling’s global governing body has prevented Emily Bridges, a transgender cyclist, from competing in the female category of the National Omnium Championships on Saturday.
Bridges, 21, who began taking hormone therapy last year, had satisfied British Cycling’s requirements for transgender athletes by lowering her testosterone levels below 5 nanomoles per litre for 12 consecutive months, and had been due to compete against women for the first time in the Derby velodrome this weekend, against a field including Laura Kenny, the five-times Olympic champion.
But UCI rules give them six weeks to convene an expert panel after receiving the final blood test and, as UCI ranking points are available at the event in Derby, Bridges was disappointed to hear that she will have to await the outcome of the UCI’s deliberations before she can compete in the female category.
The UCI’s decision came as it emerged that Fina, the international swimming governing body, will seek changes its rules on transgender inclusion in women’s sport to prevent a repeat of Lia Thomas’s controversial victory in the prestigious US college championships. … read full article (web page archive)
NCAA looks to phase in rules for transgender athletes
NCAA president says league is committed to Olympic rules regarding trans athlete participation in women's sports.
From Star Tribune (USA)
By Rochelle Olson
March 30, 2022
NCAA President Mark Emmert, speaking Wednesday in advance of the women's Final Four basketball weekend at Target Center, addressed transgender participation in women's sports, saying the NCAA is looking to phase in standards similar to those employed by the Olympics.
The NCAA is "committed to using the same standards as the Olympics and simply phasing" them in for transgender athletes, Emmert said Wednesday. The Olympic standards direct each sport to develop its own rules, moving away from testosterone-based limits toward a system that doesn't presume transgender women have an advantage.
The issue has resurfaced for the NCAA this year because of the impressive performances of University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas. She won the 500-yard freestyle at women's nationals two weeks ago, becoming the first known transgender athlete to win a Division I championship.
Thomas' swimming has, among other cases, pushed the eligibility discussion about trans athletes into statehouses and Congress. One side says the integrity of women's sports demands that only those born female compete as women and girls. The other says fears of transwomen dominating events are overblown, mean-spirited and a cover for violations of Title IX, the 50-year-old law that protects students from gender discrimination at schools receiving federal funding. … read full article
Sharron Davies: Injustice of transgender athletes has echo of the dopers I faced
The idea of Lia Thomas and Emily Bridges competing in female events means it’s time for a protected classification
From The Times (UK)

March 30, 2022
As a swimmer who faced the androgenised girls of East Germany at every turn in my first career in the pool, I feel the treatment of women in the debate over trans inclusion in sport adds insult to injury.
It all brings back horrid memories of women being robbed of a fair playing field and life-long opportunities, and of anyone who spoke up for justice being told to keep quiet or pay a price.
We’re told that inclusion can only mean one thing: women have to move over and find room for people who grew up as boys and went through puberty before transitioning. At the college swimming championships in the US this month we saw an athlete, Lia Thomas, who was an average club swimmer as a man claim an NCAA title as the US No 1 woman with 20 years of male development in the tank.
Cycling faced a similar challenge to fairness in Britain this week: Emily Bridges, 21, who began transitioning last year, was set to compete in the National Omnium Championships this weekend before an intervention by UCI, cycling’s world governing body.
It would not have been fair to ask Laura Kenny and the other women cyclists that Bridges would have come up against to have to race a rival with the advantages of a biological man. … read full article (web page archive)
Michigan Clinic Offers Testosterone to 13-Year Old Girl at First Visit
From Parents with Inconvenient Truths about Trans (PITT)
March 30, 2022
As an academically advanced student, my daughter never quite fit in with her peers. Social isolation, dealing with substantial losses in her short life, and entering puberty before she was emotionally ready were overwhelming. Searching the internet, reading tumblr, watching YouTube, and discovering porn led her to find the meaning to her discomfort – she was transgender. With more internet time her dysphoria worsened.
Thinking this was a gender issue we found a gender therapist to help her sort out her pain. Instead of exploring the root of her problems, this therapist just affirmed her identity as transgender. Within a couple of months, she guided her to “come out” at school, where she was applauded and told she was brave. She was only 12 years old. I only found out after the fact.
I went to the school counselor and asked why they would let this happen, why weren't her parents contacted to see “what issues” she may be going through? The school counselor relayed to me, “They're following the guidance passed in 2016, that parents are NOT to be NOTIFIED if a child self-identifies as a transgender.” Later I asked my child how her self-declaration at school was going, she replied, “It's fine, no one cares.” I find it deeply disturbing, NO ONE cares enough to consult with parents on what MY child was going through. … read full article (and SUBSCRIBE to PITT!)
Tumbling into trans activism
From The Glinner Update (UK)

This is a long, but important piece of writing from a young detransitioned male that I urge everyone to read. Its subject is the hothouse culture within Tumblr, a culture that has a great deal to do with the absurd/horrifying historical moment in which we find ourselves. You may not agree with some of the conclusions he reaches, but I don’t think anyone interested in this debate can afford to ignore it. Originally posted on his Substack, it’s a worthy companion piece to Helena’s story, which I’ll also seek permission to post here at some point.
It has often been reported by internet observers that Tumblr is the starting point for many of the left-wing trends that have taken over academic and administrative institutions (obligatory Default Friend link, but you should also check out Angela Nagle’s Kill All Normies). Likewise, those with an interest in the ROGD social contagion have pointed to TikTok, Twitter, and Tumblr as important vectors in the spread of this disorder and other severe mental ailments. Though it’s been touched upon by some (notably Helena @lacroicsz of Prude Posting), there has yet to be any in-depth look at its relationship to feminism, other than by feminists attempting to obscure its direct connection.
It targets women, it’s made by and for the experiences of young women and girls, but it does work on both sexes, unlike the 4chan analogue which specifically targets men. I confess, however, that I am too much of a soyboy to have been on 4chan for very long. I dabbled here and there, but ultimately, my friends (and especially my high school girlfriend) were on Tumblr so that simply didn’t last. I strongly encourage anyone with experience in the trans ideological fabulations on 4chan or Reddit to write that piece, I think it would be indispensable given how many male transgender Gen Z/Zillennial right-wingers there are, along with their many ideologically compatible “trad” tranny chasers. … read full article (and SUBSCRIBE to The Glinner Update!)
How 'internalized transphobia' works
A snapshot
From Writing behavior by Eliza Mondegreen (Canada)
By Eliza Mondegreen
March 30, 2022
This isn’t internalized transphobia. This is just what it feels like to run up against the impossible promises you were made when you transitioned: namely, the promise that you would become, that transition would be linear and that there would be a finish line.
The reality is something else.
Dysphoria migrates from one body part to the next. Cut off your breasts and your eyes drift to your hips. Grow a beard and worry that your small hands will give you away. There’s no point at which transition passes from performance to simply being. You never stop editing your backstory and suppressing your real experiences that have shaped who you are. You never stop pretending. … read full article (and SUBSCRIBE to Writing behavior!)
They will never be convinced that cancel culture exists
Let's not waste our breath
From Hold that thought by Sarah Haider (USA)
By Sarah Haider
March 30, 2022
In some parts of the landscape, it seems we are still debating this question.
A few days ago, journalist Adam Davidson, asked on Twitter:
“Can one of you believers in cancel culture just write one piece that gives evidence and doesn't just speak to a feeling you have? Maybe some data that helps your readers know the size and scale of this problem? Also, some examples of people actually fired?”
It seems absurd to me that anyone could still deny the existence of the phenomenon - in fact, so absurd that I literally don’t believe it.
However, others are not as cynical as me, and supplied Mr. Davidson with countless stories - occasionally their own. One man said he was suspended from the British Labour Party for saying “only women experience menopause”. Multiple women claimed similar losses, firings and suspensions over gender issues.
Others shared the dataset by FIRE cataloging 426 cases in the recent past of scholars targeted for ideological reasons. They noted that the scholars were ten times more likely to be targeted by those on the left. Another user shared a catalog of events that bubbled up in public discourse - nearly 300 incidents. … read full article (and SUBSCRIBE to Hold that thought!)
Woke Capital in the Twenty-First Century

From Year Zero (USA)

On March 28, Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed the “Parental Rights in Education” bill. The law bans formal classroom instruction in public schools regarding sexual orientation or gender identity in grades K-3 (hence “Don’t Say Gay”). It also requires Florida public schools to inform parents if their child receives any “services or monitoring” from the school, a measure intended to prevent school staff from hiding a child’s gender transition from his/her parents. Both practices exist in American public schools, and thus the Florida law is hardly gratuitous.
Well before DeSantis signed the bill, the powerful LGBT interest group Human Rights Campaign was ramping up its lobbying. HRC’s forte is less persuading politicians than pressuring CEOs. On February 28 it released a letter signed by over 150 corporations stating their opposition to the Florida bill and all similar legislation in other states. Observers immediately noticed that The Walt Disney Corporation, Florida’s #1 employer, was not on the list. … read full article (and SUBSCRIBE to Year Zero!)
