"The American Academy of Pediatrics has reportedly gagged debate on a resolution calling for an independent and rigorous review of the evidence on treatment of youth gender dysphoria."
On this day in Herstory: The Seneca Falls Convention began on July 19, 1848. The first women's rights convention, it advertised itself as "a convention to discuss the social, civil, and religious condition and rights of woman". Held in the Wesleyan Chapel of the town of Seneca Falls, New York, it spanned two days over July 19–20, 1848. Attracting widespread attention, it was soon followed by other women's rights conventions, including the Rochester Women's Rights Convention in Rochester, New York, two weeks later. US - Rachel Levine says youth access to 'gender-affirming care' should not be limited
From The National Desk (USA)
By Alec Shemmel
July 18, 2022
WASHINGTON (TND) — U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine said Monday the U.S. should not limit youth access to “gender-affirming care.”
Levine’s comments came after a federal judge put a halt last week on mandates from the Biden administration that require trans people be able to access bathrooms, locker rooms and sports teams matching their preferred gender identity.
“Trans youth are vulnerable,” Levine told Andrea Mitchell during a Monday interview on MSNBC. “We really want to base our treatment and to affirm and to support and empower these youth, not to limit … their ability to gender affirmation treatment in their state.”... read full article
US - An Open Letter to the American Academy of Pediatrics
From Genspect (UK)
By Genspect
July 18, 2022
We write to you from Genspect, an international and non-partisan organization which represents thousands of parents of gender dysphoric children, adolescents, and young adults, as well as trans people, detransitioners, clinicians, and allied groups. We want our children to be affirmed as whole human beings, and we want them to be treated with evidence-based interventions which ensure that benefits outweigh risks. We are very concerned that the AAP is currently representing only one set of views on how best to help our children thrive—namely both social (names, pronouns, etc.) and medical transition (puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, surgeries), which the AAP refers to as “affirmative care.” Many of our children have received this care and are anything but thriving. ... read full article

The American Academy of Pediatrics has reportedly gagged debate on a resolution calling for an independent and rigorous review of the evidence on treatment of youth gender dysphoria.
The five paediatricians behind the resolution highlight an international shift away from the hormonal and surgical interventions recommended by the AAP in its contentious 2018 policy endorsing the “gender-affirming” treatment model. ... read full article
US - Pediatric Gender Medicine and the Moral Panic Over Suicide
Hyperbolic rhetoric about suicide rates may do more to increase suicide than prevent it.

By Leor Sapir

In a recent exchange between Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Berkeley Law professor Khiara Bridges on the ramifications of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Hawley wanted to know whether the Court’s decision affected women as a class. After initially informing Hawley that not all “cis women” have the “capacity for pregnancy” while some “trans men” and “non-binary” people do, Bridges appeared caught between her loyalties to gender identity ideology and to the long-held idea that abortion is a women’s issue. And so rather than clarify her position, Bridges berated Hawley for his “transphobic” line of questioning, insisting that he and those like him are the reason why “one in five” transgender people attempt suicide. ... read full article

In 2015, I was fired from my job of 17 years when I refused to draft a policy allowing grown men and their genitalia to shower in the YMCA girls’ locker rooms while little girls got ready for swim class.
At the time, transgenderism was not yet a Tumblr trend, and virtually no one was talking about “gender identity” in any meaningful way. I remember being dumbfounded as a Christian, as a mother, and, especially as a rape survivor, about the implications of such an absurdly misogynistic public policy, and I was even more dismayed to discover that literally none of the professing Christian men in my upline at the Y would take a stand alongside me. ... read full article
US - Lia Thomas is not a woman and should not be honored as one
From Washington Examiner (USA)
By CHRISTOPHER TREMOGLIE
July 19, 2022
Years from now, people will look back at the left-wing elite that sought to dictate to everyone else that men can be women just by wanting to. Unfortunately, we live in the present, in perilous times, when radical left-wing elitists are trying to redefine society to adhere to the feigned ignorance of reality upon which their gender ideology depends for its survival.
The latest example of this is former University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas being nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year. Thomas, a male swimmer who exploited a loophole to compete in women's sports, is not a woman. Thomas never was a woman and, as such, should not receive any honor intended for women. To suggest otherwise is offensive, insulting, and discriminatory against actual women. There are plenty of real women athletes who deserve to be honored. ... read full article
US - Riley Gaines: Lia Thomas’ NCAA Woman of the Year nomination ‘insulting’ to female athletes
From The Washington Times (USA)

July 19, 2022
The University of Pennsylvania’s decision to nominate transgender swimmer Lia Thomas as the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year is facing splashback from some female athletes.
Swimmer Riley Gaines, who was nominated by the University of Kentucky for the honor, said Monday that the Thomas nomination has turned the prestigious award into “something that people are laughing at.”
“It’s a mockery. That’s what this whole thing has turned into, something we as female athletes have dedicated our whole lives to,” said Gaines on Fox’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” “It’s something that people are laughing at. It’s an insult. It’s incredibly disheartening. And quite frankly it’s wrong.” ... read full article
US - Merriam-Webster dictionary redefines 'female' as a gender identity
Infused with wokeness, the new definition includes 'having a gender identity that is the opposite of male'.
From Rebel News (Canada)

July 19, 2022
The long march through the institutions continues as Merriam-Webster dictionary redefines "female" as a gender identity.
Having previously promoted progressive ideology by redefining racism to include systemic oppression and branding the word “they” as its Word of the Year in 2019, the dictionary has added a new definition to the word “female.”
Rather than simply refer to female as relating to or being the sex that has the capacity to bear young or produce eggs, the definition of female has been altered to be in accord with the shibboleths of the woke left. ... read full article

US - Planned Parenthood Pivots to Where the Money Is: Transgender Hormone Therapy
As abortion access shrinks, the organization has been promoting its services for transgender people, including minors.
From National Review (USA)
By Jack Wolfsohn
July 19, 2022
Recently, Planned Parenthood released several guides on transgenderism and the relevant medical services the organization offers. One of these guides is titled, “What should I teach my elementary school aged child about identity?” The guide claims that “gender identity — including transgender and gender nonconforming identities — are cemented early in elementary school.” Under the question, “How do I know if my child is transgender or gender nonconforming?” the guide states that, “for [some] kids, it’s clear as early as 2–3 years old that they’re not the gender everyone says they are.” Many kids aren’t potty-trained by the time they are two to three years old, but Planned Parenthood is claiming that they will be able to comprehend the concept of gender. ... read full article

Anthropology professor Joseph Manson announced his retirement this month with a broadside blog post that detailed the loss of academic freedom and integrity at UCLA. Manson describes many of the things that I have previously addressed as standard measures used to force out dissenting or conservative voices, including the isolation and investigation of colleagues to get them to resign. He is now among that lengthening list of such faculty who have decided to cut their academic careers short rather than work under such intolerable conditions. ... read full article

By March of 2020, we could no longer leave the house unless we had an “attestation,” providing a legal justification for being outside. The European country where we lived as American expats had one of the strictest lock downs in the world.
Within a week of the restrictions, I lost my sense of taste. I was pregnant but was advised to stay at home because, at that point, the hospitals were full. Patients were being transferred by medical trains across the border. Breathless and coughing, I self-isolated in an empty room in the attic, sleeping on a mattress my husband pulled up the steep staircase. To everyone’s relief, in two weeks, I was better. ... read full article

A bombshell report lays out why single-sex services matter
From The Post by UnHerd (UK)
By MAYA FORSTATER
July 19, 2022
97% of respondents said single-sex spaces were important to them.
“What is a woman?” is not just a gotcha for politicians but a practical question for those providing services to the public. Increasingly venues, schools and offices are switching to “gender neutral” (mixed sex) facilities, or to “gender inclusive” rules (go where you like), either out of a fashionable conviction that this is the way of the future, or to avoid rows between those who insist gender is fluid and those who say sex is what matters.
Sex Matters undertook a survey to find out how people feel. The response was astonishing. In a little over a week we received over 7,000 replies, 9 out of 10 of them from women. Many included details about how the loss of everyday single-sex spaces was affecting their life. ... read full article

UK - Why do single-sex services matter?
From Sex Matters (UK)
July 19, 2022
In February 2022 Sex Matters undertook a survey to find out why single-sex services matter to people. The response was astonishing. In a little over a week we received over 7,000 replies, nine out of ten of them from women. Many included details about how the loss of everyday single-sex spaces is affecting their lives in ways that are profound and devastating.
The loss of everyday single-sex spaces with the erosion of clear rules takes away comfort and security from many women. It makes every part of public life feel like a dark alley. It is the opposite of inclusion. Our survey provides evidence to support a call for simple, clear, statutory guidance which takes the fear out of providing single-sex services.

Recently, two great writers have written essays on the subject of trans-humanism. Last month, Charles Eisenstein published “Transhumanism and the Metaverse,” in which he writes the following rather important critique regarding the left’s alignment with trans-human fantasies:
What leftists seem not to notice is that these versions of progress also enable the encroachment of capitalism into more and more intimate territories. Do you think the immersive AR/VR experience of the Metaverse will be free of advertising, perhaps so subtly targeted as to be invisible? The closer our integration with technology in all aspects of life, the more life can become a consumer product.
