"Laws that allow males into women’s prisons are anti-progressive and anti-women. Like women in rape crisis centers, women in prison need single-sex spaces."
This day in Herstory: Dame Christabel Harriette Pankhurst, DBE, born September 22, 1880 (died February 13, 1958), was a British suffragette born in Manchester, England. A co-founder of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU), she directed its militant actions from exile in France from 1912 to 1913. In 1914, she supported the war against Germany. After the war, she moved to the United States, where she worked as an evangelist for the Second Adventist movement. (more)

Laws that allow males into women’s prisons are cruel, dangerous, and regressive.

“Feminists have long pointed out that right and left have developed their own, differing routes to exploiting women. To suggest feminists who call out left wing bullshit are therefore in support of right wing bullshit is to vastly underestimate how much bullshit there is.”
—Victoria Smith, Twitter 8/6/2022
In February of 2022, I wrote and recorded a song about Tomiekia, an incarcerated plaintiff in a lawsuit against the Department of Corrections in California. A recent California law allows any male, including those who have not had surgery or taken hormones, to be locked up with women in state prisons. In February, I submitted a written declaration and testified publicly to oppose yet another “progressive” bill in Washington state aiming to establish mixed-sex prisons. Since writing my song and testifying, more rapes and assaults have been reported not only in California and Washington, but in prisons throughout the world where these policies have been adopted. …
Laws that allow males into women’s prisons are anti-progressive and anti-women. Like women in rape crisis centers, women in prison need single-sex spaces. If you self-identify as a progressive or a liberal, this is an issue you should care about deeply, because women—right now—are being hurt. This should not be flattened into a one-dimensional Right versus Left debate. These draconian laws are cruel to one of the most vulnerable and marginalized groups in our society: incarcerated women.

The terminological change behind the push to ‘treat’ sex-role nonconformity with surgery or hormones.

The number of young Americans who describe themselves as “transgender” has exploded over the past decade, increasing by a factor of 20 to 40, according to gender clinic referral data and a recent Williams Institute report based on surveys by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Why? Jody Herman, author of the report, calls that a “bewildering question.” Clinical psychologist Erica Anderson tweeted that the surge “defies explanation. … Something is going on that we don’t yet understand.”
The two leading explanations are greater social acceptance and social contagion. Both are likely contributing factors, but I think the main reason is simpler. It comes down to a change in terminology. … read full article

A gender clinic in Nashville, Tennessee is facing backlash after videos were posted to social media showing their top administrators describing gender surgeries as “money makers” and asserting that doctors should be unable to object to carrying out these surgeries.

September 22, 2022
Caught red-handed by conservative journalist Matt Walsh yesterday, Vanderbilt University Hospital has scrubbed their website of everything related to “gender affirming” medicine. Mainstream media is reporting the story as a dangerous example of right wing fanaticism, insisting that nothing is out of the ordinary.
But any opinionator who cites the “parental consent” of children being sterilized and mutilated for profit will come to regret it soon enough. This legal fig leaf will not save Vanderbilt, or the American hospital system, from the consequences of the pediatric transition fad. … read full article
US - Vanderbilt has disgraced itself over trans surgeries
The clinic is turning complex treatments into a money-spinning operation

Healthcare in the United States is big business, and that includes gender clinics. For all their faults — I reported on them recently — NHS Gender identity Clinics are free at point of use. Not so in the US. The patient (or their insurance company) pays.
The Clinic for Transgender Health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee got on the gravy train in November 2018. Assistant Professor Dr. Shane Taylor explained that “these surgeries make a lot of money” and charged “female to male chest reconstruction” at $40,000, while a patient “just on routine hormone treatment that we’re only seeing a few times a year could bring in several thousand dollars”. … read full article

Tucker Carlson argues American medicine has become 'transparently a racket'

For thousands of years, clinical trials have been the center of medicine and the idea is very simple. Before you operate on someone or inject people with some new drug, you run trials first to make certain that what you're doing will help the patient more than it hurts the patient. This is not a new idea.
James Lind did it back in the 18th century with his famous scurvy trials. In fact, medical testing has been going on since at least biblical times because why wouldn't it? Daniel of Judah compared a vegetarian diet with the diet of the royal Babylonians over a 10-day period, so he had a control group, independent observers, the whole thing. It's not complicated, but it is essential. Throughout history, very few have questioned this practice because it makes obvious sense, but now they are. … read full article

As detailed by Libby Emmons of The Post Millennial, the New York-based hospital has published a promotional video for gender transition, which features a mom who transitioned her child. TRENTON – Minors in New Jersey would be prohibited from receiving irreversible treatments and surgeries that would change their sex, prevent or delay puberty or result in sterilization, under a bill proposed Thursday by state Sen. Edward Durr.
Durr, R-Gloucester, said such procedures are “nothing short of child abuse” and that the “Child Protection and Anti-Mutilation Act” would apply in connection with people under the age of 18 years.
“Children do not have the maturity to make life-changing medical decisions that cannot be reversed,” Durr said. … read full article

Under what conditions should a person be free to indulge his sexual fetishes in public? This question was brought into stark relief last week at a school in Ontario, where the attire of a male teacher now identifying as a woman raised a new version of the old question “how many grains of sand make a heap?”: How many cup sizes make a pair of prosthetic breasts wildly inappropriate? Even though the event was billed as in-person, the noise of the trans activists meant that except for a small inner circle, if you wanted to hear gender-critical British activist Kellie-Jay-Keen speak in Brighton last Sunday, you had to tune into her livestream. It quickly made sense why so many women had headphones; they were listening to speeches that were happening only a few feet away.
For those who don’t know the Kellie-Jay Keen (KJK) story, here’s the distilled version: they pulled down her billboard, then they kicked her off Twitter, so she took her opinions to the parks.
