This day in Herstory: Florence Nightingale OM RRC DStJ, born May 12, 1820 (died August 13, 1910) was an English social reformer, statistician and the founder of modern nursing. Nightingale came to prominence while serving as a manager and trainer of nurses during the Crimean War, in which she organised care for wounded soldiers at Constantinople. She gave nursing a favourable reputation and became an icon of Victorian culture, especially in the persona of "The Lady with the Lamp" making rounds of wounded soldiers at night. (more)

Gay pride videos shown in a Glendale third-grade classroom have added an intense local chapter to a national debate over how and when lessons on gender identity and sexual orientation should be broached in public schools.
The episode unfolded with the disclosure that a teacher at Jefferson Elementary had shown her students gay pride videos and had asked for the district’s help in assessing which of four specific videos would be appropriate for classroom use. The teacher’s lessons and her inquiry happened nearly a year ago, but they surfaced last month with the online posting of an email exchange between the teacher, Tammy Tiber, and a district curriculum advisor. … read full article

Our primary school kids are being messed up by gender identity lessons
From The Express (UK)
By HELEN JOYCE
May 11, 2022
LIKE many mothers, I knew my children's sex months before they were born. So I was astonished by "What Does LGBT+ Mean?", a book sent to primary schools for use in relationships and sex education (RSE) lessons.
It claims that doctors and nurses “assign” newborn babies a label, either male or female, “based on what they could see”. The book then goes on to explain that something called “gender” is more important than this superficial and arbitrary label. It describes gender as a “sliding scale”, with male at one end and female at the other, and says that where you land on this scale depends on “how you feel”. Maybe you’re “mostly male”, or “mostly female”? Or perhaps you’re both? Or neither? … read full article
Stonewall boss demands mother, dog and support staff for hearing

A judge has rebuked a senior Stonewall official who refused to give evidence unless a support worker, his mother and a support dog sat with him.
The incident was the latest twist in a legal battle involving a lesbian barrister who alleges that Stonewall bullied her chambers into disciplining her after she expressed the view that trans women should not be legally classed as biological women. … read full article
This trial has become a spectacle of ludicrousness: By claiming there's no such thing as male and female bodies, trans activists have wrecked all the good work of the gay rights charity I helped found, says Stonewall co-founder SIMON FANSHAWE

Barrister Allison Bailey is suing her legal chambers for allegedly curbing her work and her income because of her view that there are only two sexes

My jaw hit the floor during the Stonewall discrimination trial this week when the LGBT charity’s ‘head of trans inclusion’ Kirrin Medcalf took the stand and declared: ‘Bodies are not inherently male or female. They are just their bodies.’
But as those words sank in, my heart sank to my boots too. I was one of the six co-founders of Stonewall in the 1980s. Along with the others, I poured all my energy into making the organisation a formidable force for gay and lesbian rights. … read full article
Campaigners seek to scrap parental consent from NHS trans treatment
Activists take case to High Court, which if won could ‘dismantle safeguards’ in place regarding prescription of puberty blockers to children
From The Telegraph (UK)

May 11, 2022
Children could be allowed to undergo transgender treatment on the NHS without parental consent if legal campaigners win a new court challenge.
The Good Law Project is arguing that waiting lists for gender treatment are too long and that NHS England is unlawfully discriminating against under-16s by requiring them to have parental consent before they are prescribed puberty blockers.
Sources within the health service on Wednesday warned the case could “dismantle the safeguards” put in place amid concerns surrounding gender identity treatment services. … read full article

May 12, 2022
I spoke with Donovan Cleckley about how gender identity ideology advances the objectification of women — through pornography, lobbying for the sex slavery industry, and normalizing the fetishization of female subordination.
The origins of “gender identity” are a concept created by the sexologist John Money, who developed his theories of innate gender by sexually abusing children. Money also recommended showing pornography to children in order to help them develop their “gender schemas”. … read full article

I’m again putting my head above the parapet to pass on some pearls of wisdom that I have gleaned over the last two years. I was lucky that there was a pandemic and my daughter had to return home, so I had the opportunity to try to reestablish our connection. As every ROGD parent knows all too well, the forks we face along this rocky road can be as ambiguously marked as they are abundant, cultivating skepticism and confusion at every impasse. The foreign practices and puzzling protocols of the Rapid Onset Gender Dystopia we have found ourselves in have stripped us of the luxury of predictability and the gift of experience when choosing which way to go, which path to pick. We are left instead to our instincts, minding the individual needs of our individual children, as we decipher for ourselves the risk of a left or right turn or the potential reward in choosing to yield, stop or speed onward. … read full article

Some time ago, in an attempt to think through the pitfalls of the anything-goes hippie milieu I was raised in, I picked up a copy of Boomers: The Men and Women Who Promised Freedom and Delivered Disaster. The book, modelled on Lytton Strachey’s Eminent Victorians, is a take-down of the progressive boomer ethos. Its scathing tone, while often warranted (and frequently hilarious), is not particularly surprising, given that its author Helen Andrews is a senior editor at The American Conservative, and that her agent told her it would be an ideal project for her because “like Strachey, you’re an essayist and you’re mean.” I was somewhat surprised to discover, however, that while there’s lots I disagree with in this book, there was lots I found myself nodding my head to. … read full article
