If readers recognize my byline, it’s because I’ve spent the last few years arguing strenuously for the (apparently controversial) positions that biological sex is real, that there are only two sexes, and that the differences between males and females matter in some policy contexts.
My views are hardly out of the mainstream. Indeed, we are now seeing a pronounced (if belated) pushback against activists who’ve insisted that biological sex is some kind of transphobic mirage. ... read full article
US - Proposed Legislation: Adults Could Sue Doctors Who ‘Transitioned’ Them as Minors
From Daily Citizen (USA)
By Jeff Johnston
June 23, 2022
The “Protecting Minors from Medical Malpractice Act” would allow adults to sue doctors who used puberty blockers, opposite-sex hormones and surgeries to “transition” them when they were minors.
The bill targets those who provide these disfiguring and medical interventions to minors, in an attempt to make them look like the opposite sex. When patients realize such procedures did not heal their mental health issues and that their bodies are irreparably damaged, they would have 30 years after they turn 18 to file a lawsuit.

US - Schools’ New Misgendering Rules Will Create Compliant, Fearful Children Perfect For Totalitarianism
From The Federalist (USA)
By NOELLE MERING
June 23, 2022
The Fairfax County School Board recently approved a policy expanding punishment for students who misgender classmates. Pronouns that accord with reality now constitute “discriminatory harassment” and can result in weekslong suspension or even a referral to law enforcement.
This decision is a harbinger of things to come and precedes an impending Biden administration regulatory proposal expanding the definition of sex discrimination to include sexual orientation and gender identity. Such a change threatens to undo the integrity of girls’ sports and the necessary protections for their private spaces (such as locker rooms), leaving them vulnerable to sexual assault. ... read full article

Body horror dwells in the fear of damage that cannot be undone. It involves stories of skin, and limbs, and teeth, and eyes — precious and irreplaceable, now scarred or severed or irrevocably changed. In some versions, the Icarus stories, the damage is self-inflicted: fevered experimentation becomes joyful discovery becomes tragic hubris, the enterprising scientist watching with fascination as his body falls to pieces, a disintegrating structure with his consciousness trapped inside.
But in others, it’s the result of medical madness, a doctor so drunk on the possibility of a breakthrough — or so convinced he’s already made one — that he presses forward in violation of scientific principle, of basic decency, of his own humanity. These latter stories are more frightening. It’s the betrayal of it: the violation of that sacred oath to do no harm, and of the trust we place in the physicians who care for us at our most vulnerable. … read full article

Remember when a drag queen called FlowJob was invited to talk to very young kids in a primary school in Scotland? I know this sounds like something from the fever dream of a hardcore Christian who is convinced that society is going to hell in a handcart, but it really did happen.
