Lysenkoism all over again
With gender ideology, the left is once again destroying society by demonizing the "fascist science" of biology. Is anyone paying attention?
From Arty Morty's Substack (USA)

In the Soviet Union in the 1920s, Stalin’s ideological revolution turned its attention to biology. By then, it was well-understood that species evolve through genetics: two sets of genes get shuffled together via sexual reproduction, with a little random mutation thrown in, and out comes a brand new being with its own unique genetic identity. This fact, however, came to be deemed incompatible with communist principles, because it says that we’re powerless to change our genes through learned behaviour or acquired experiences.
If you spend your whole life working hard on the farm, it won’t make your offspring innately stronger; and no matter how dedicated to the collective good you are, your children’s spirits won’t be hard-wired for civic duty. A biologist named Trofim Lysenko, who had grown up a peasant and as a result became deeply committed to the communist cause, proposed an ideological alternative to natural selection, and he set out to prove that we are the masters of our heredity by experimenting with exposing wheat crops to extreme climates to make their offspring hardier.
The result was catastrophic. Lysenko’s pseudoscientific principles were applied nationwide to agricultural crops, prolonging the effects of the famines that had already killed millions of Russians and Ukrainians. Biologists who defended genetics were rounded up by the thousands and executed, committed to prisons, gulags, and mental hospitals, or fired. … read full article
UK - Trans charity Mermaids is at last getting the scrutiny it has long deserved
From The Telegraph (UK)
By Miriam Cates
October 8, 2022
Few scandals provoke more universal condemnation than the abuse and exploitation of children. Although we know it happens all too often, we are still shocked when tragic cases come to light and we cling to promises by those in authority that lessons will be learned. While no defences are ever infallible, sophisticated safeguarding practices have been developed in recent years to protect children and make sure that action is swift when alarms are raised.
It is therefore almost unbelievable that it has taken so long for significant safeguarding concerns about children’s charity Mermaids to be taken seriously. Mermaids is an organisation that subscribes to extreme gender identity theory and actively recruits children to its political cause.
For years, desperate parents have tried to alert schools, the media and politicians to Mermaids’ activities, which include encouraging children to keep secrets from their families and leading them towards a path of medical and surgical transition. I have spoken to parents who, following a visit from Mermaids to their children’s school, have seen their confused teenage daughters turn against them and their families destroyed. These parents have been ignored. … read full article

Lottie was 13 when she shaved off her long dark hair and asked teachers at her private girls’ school to call her by a boy’s name.
Her mother Helen, a stay-at-home mum, and father Philip Wade, a lawyer, admit they found it difficult coming to terms with their teenage daughter’s gender dysphoria.
But when they discovered “beard oil” in Lottie’s messy bedroom alongside syringes and hypodermic needles, their worries deepened. “We already had concerns about Lottie, but this baffled us,” her mother said. “Who would inject beard oil?” … read full article

US - What Do I Mean by "Trans Is Something We Made Up"?
The TL;DR version
From The 21st Century Salonnière (USA)

I mean that every culture, every time and place, has had “gender nonconforming” people. We can talk about why that is, but that would be a totally different article. There’s some evidence that prenatal hormone exposure in both humans and some mammals can influence gender nonconforming behavior.
Whatever the underlying cause, gender nonconforming people have always existed in every time and place. That’s very real.
What’s “made up” are the multiple and varied ways that different cultures have interpreted the meaning of gender nonconforming people. What’s “made up” are the narratives of whether those people are just fine how they are or whether something is “wrong” with them that needs to be “fixed.” What’s “made up” are the “treatments” in our culture — treatments that are very profitable for a lot of people — for “fixing” our gender nonconforming people. … read full article

I always knew that the tide would turn regarding the onslaught of gender identity pushed from every corner of our society when the proverbial “fluffy kitten” would be placed in its crosshairs. Gender ideology is not only widespread—it’s pervasive in media, public policy, educational institutions, professional organisations, policing, jurisprudence, law, social media, councils, private companies, and beyond—I can’t think of an arena where it is not omnipresent. If ever there were a hope for a public pushback to this ideology there are, in fact, two “fluffy kittens” within this debate that have driven its massive pushback: sports and children.
Intellectually, even the most stalwart supporter of sic “trans identity” recognises that a six-foot tall bloke playing against a 5-foot woman in rugby or cycling is unfair competition. Still, debates took place and are still ongoing as to why sex matters. From testosterone levels to time frames between sic “transition” and competition to sporting organisations that refuse to recognise the biological advantages of male athletes the facts are clear in this debate. Yet, today girls and women are discriminated against in their own sporting competitions. The science is unambiguous in this matter even if the plethora of bad studies have yet to make it to the bottom of Google’s search results and journals like Nature run opinion pieces by a PhD in government who postures gender identity as done and dusted science in an article whose sole aims attempts to derail scientific evidence through hokum. … read full article

A city council has apologised to veteran feminist and lesbian activist Julie Bindel after cancelling a talk because of “the speaker’s views on transgender rights”.
In June, Bindel was due to give a talk, organised by the Nottingham Women for Change group at Aspley library in Nottingham, one of three earmarked for closure.
However, the day before the event was due to be held, Nottingham city council informed the group it could not go ahead.

One day, hopefully soon, we may be able to step back and rationally explain the wide-eyed capture of so many institutions including the health service, government departments, the judiciary, and unbelievably, institutions of learning where critical analysis has been put to one side in favour of a fantasy and a well-meaning desire to be kind, only to be replaced by an ideology that trumped biological reality and helped foster such harm.
One day, we may reasonably question why charities, engulfed by a regressive gender ideology, were allowed to twist any questioning of their strategy into a fallacious argument that it was an attack on marginalised people by bigots. … read full article

US - Three Paths to Despotism
To halt the rise of authoritarianism, liberal democracies must restore hope of economic improvement, particularly among the young.
From Quillette (Australia)
By Joel Kotkin

“Democracy is at stake,” US President Biden told a gathering of Democratic Party governors on September 28th. His warning about the global spread of illiberalism followed the stunning gains made by populist parties in Sweden and Italy, the latter of which he mentioned directly. “We can't be sanguine about what's happening here either,” he added. Biden has already called much of his own domestic opposition “semi-fascist,” and fears of anti-democratic violence remain following the storming of the US Capitol on January 6th, 2020, by rioters attempting to overturn his own election.
But these worrying developments on the political Right reflect only one expression of the new authoritarianism. The Western Left, once advocates of free speech and tolerant of markets, now embrace a massive expansion of state power, complete with expansive curbs on expression and speech. Perhaps most ominous of all, expanded state power and intolerance are also now being embraced by some of the world’s most powerful corporations, which have benefited greatly from liberalism, the rule of law, and open inquiry. … read full article
US - Martine Rothblatt: A Founding Father of the "Transgender" Empire
Martine Rothblatt is an entrepreneur and lawyer who has been instrumental in the rise of transsexualism, "transgenderism," and, ultimately, transhumanism.

October 8, 2022
At the heart of the emerging synthetic sex industry is a man in a dress, donning women’s breasts with the confidence only a man could acquire after a lifetime of being a first-class citizen. Martine Rothblatt, born in 1954, is an exceedingly accomplished entrepreneur and lawyer. As the founder of United Therapeutics, he was the top-earning CEO in the biopharmaceutical industry. He identifies as a transsexual and transhumanist and has written extensively on the connections between the two. Rothblatt believes that human sexual dimorphism is tantamount to South African apartheid and that transgenderism is an onramp to transhumanism – which is, for him, an exercise in overcoming “fleshism.”
As a member of the International Conference on Transgender Law and Employment Policy (ICTLEP) since 1992, Rothblatt authored the first draft of the Transexual and Transgender Health Law Reports after meeting Phyllis Frye, another transsexual lawyer, in Texas. This small meeting of men with a penchant for wearing women’s undergarments was the launch pad for an international project to drive transsexualism globally and deconstruct human sexual dimorphism. … read full article

One of my favourite poems is “Pied Beauty” by Gerard Manley Hopkins. It is all about the fact that in the world, so many beautiful things are patterned, dappled.
Glory be to God for dappled things –
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced – fold, fallow, and plough;
And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim.
All things counter, original, spare, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:
Praise him.
Hopkins contrasts the wonderful, various, fickle, freckled dazzle that is the world with God, whose “beauty is past change.” I’m not religious, but I love the poem. … read full article

The 10 commandments of gender are miserable things. Thou shall not misgender. Thou shall hold sacred the puberty blocker and brook no truth in criticism. Thou shall harass and cancel lesbians. Thou shall covet thy opposite sex aesthetics and post depressing selfies saying “feeling cute”. Thou shall pile on. Thou shall cancel. Thou shall not hold the name of the gender Gods or their 200 stupid gender identities in vain. Thou shall pretend non-binary is not a stupid bourgeois confection. Thou shall not covet the truth or hold it up to the false gods and false witnesses ruling over thou.
And finally - thou shall keep quite about your male homosexual attraction lest you offend females claiming a trans identity. … read full article
