They're mothers not expectant people': Downing Street fires back in its latest 'war on woke' skirmish and overturns bid to make new laws gender-neutral

Downing Street has won the latest skirmish in its ‘war on woke’ by overturning an attempt to make legislation gender neutral.
The row blew up over the Ministerial And Other Maternity Allowances Bill, designed to make provision for Ministers on maternity leave, after No 10 saw that it made reference to ‘expectant people’ rather than women.
However, The Mail on Sunday can reveal that before it received Royal Assent, the Bill was amended to replace gender-neutral nouns with gendered ones such as ‘mother’ – and the Government has now issued new guidance to ensure such language is not repeated in future Bills. … read full article
Editor's Column: A Return to the Dark Ages
From Holyrood (Scotland)
By Mandy Rhodes
22 May 2022
Q:“Dad, what side of history were you on?”
A: “The side that pulled on balaclavas and attacked feminists of my mother’s age in front of a statue of the leader of the suffragettes to teach them a lesson in what feminism is all about. Women need to be put in their place, son.”
A quick social media post, fired off as a gut-reaction response to the horrific scenes of women gathered in central Manchester to hear from speakers about sex-based rights, being screamed at, and man-handled, by young, masked thugs dressed as ninjas, on a counter protest organised by trans activists, and suddenly, my personal thoughts go viral. … read full article
Linn-Mar complies with law at the expense of reason
It’s understandable that most of the parents who spoke at the board meeting were appalled to learn what the policy entails.
From The Gazette (USA)
By Althea Cole
May 22, 2022
My K-12 alma mater has been in the news lately, due to circumstances I can only describe as unfortunate.
Last month, the Linn-Mar Community School District adopted policy 504.13 and its regulatory language to “put into policy for easy reference” existing procedures that comply with Iowa Civil Rights code and federal Title IX guidelines. They include allowing students to use restrooms and changing facilities that correspond with their gender identity, regardless of biological sex. It also describes a Gender Support Plan that establishes a student’s right to adopt a different name and gender identity at school without a legal change to either — and without parental knowledge or consent.
It’s understandable that most of the parents who spoke at the board meeting were appalled to learn what the policy entails. I, too find it disgusting that kids as young as 12 are allowed to choose their gender, choose their “preferred pronouns,” and expect that their peers and teachers affirm those choices while keeping it a secret from their parents. … read full article

HBO "Real Time" host Bill Maher was buried under an avalanche of criticism on Saturday after using his Friday night closing comments to ridicule trans kids and their need for gender-affirming care, saying they are only doing it because it's more "trendy" than being gay. … get fully gaslit
Child Sex Trafficker Now At Women’s Prison in New Jersey
From REDUXX (USA)
By Anna Slatz
May 22, 2022
A trans-identified male who participated in the sadistic sexual abuse of a 7-year-old girl is now being housed in a women’s facility in New Jersey.
Ashley Romero, born Adam, was one of four people sentenced earlier this month on multiple convictions related to child sexual abuse and human trafficking.
Romero was initially arrested in 2019 after Child Protection Services became alerted to a pornography company being run out of a residence where a minor resided. After search warrant was executed at the property and it was determined the child had likely been exposed to sexually explicit material, electronic devices were subsequently seized. … read full article
Here’s The New Left-Wing Theory Parents Are Fighting In Schools
From The Daily Caller (USA)
By Kendall Tietz
May 22, 2022
Critical Race Theory (CRT) isn’t the only three-word phrase that has parents concerned; Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the latest curriculum headache that education experts warn is permeating the American public school system.
SEL purports to teach students social skills that aid their mental health and emotional wellbeing, yet has been criticized as both a tenet of and a euphemism for CRT, which has become a hot button issue among parents, teachers and politicians concerned about the state of the country’s public schools. Educators are teaching gender ideology and race essentialism under the guise of SEL, education experts told The Daily Caller News Foundation. … read full article
NSTA Guide Advises Against the Use of “Parent,” “Male,” Female,” “Mother” and “Father”
From Jonathan Turley (USA)
By Jonathan Turley
May 22, 2022
In academia, there have been growing controversies over language guides and usages, including the use of pronouns that some object to as matters of religion or grammar. Now the largest association of science teachers in the world has issued a guide for “anti-oppression” terminology for science teachers. In the guide, titled “Gender-Inclusive Biology: A framework in action,” the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) has called for “gender-inclusive biology,” which includes the abandonment of terms like “parent,” “men,” “women,” “mother,” and “father.”
Under the guide, mothers are now referred to as “persons with ovaries” in reference to reproduction cycles while fathers are now “persons with testes.” Additionally, the association declares the move of various states toward “Sex verification in sports” as an example of oppression. … read full article
#MeToo is over if we don’t listen to ‘imperfect victims’ like Amber Heard
When even young women join the actor’s male tormentors, ideas of justice soon begin to unravel
From The Guardian (UK)
By Martha Gill
May 22, 2022
The backlash to the #MeToo movement was always coming. We know this because a backlash has followed every single step forward feminists have ever made. This backlash was always going to be big, too. Not only did #MeToo threaten a status quo that props up powerful men, it threatened these men personally, and – as it seemed to some – with reckless caprice.
“If somebody can be brought down by accusations like this,” a White House lawyer said shortly after Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations against Brett Kavanaugh were made public, “then you, me, every man certainly should be worried.”
It wasn’t just men who were worried. The idea that systems that previously treated only women, minorities and lower-class men unfairly might be capable of doing the same to high-status men was deeply unsettling to everyone. … read full article
Hyperrealistic Pencil Drawings Explore Gender by Depicting Female Heads on Male Bodies
From My Modern Met (USA)
By Margherita Cole
May 22, 2022
American artist Clio Newton explores gender and femininity in her series of hyperrealistic charcoal drawings called Venus. Inspired by the art of Renaissance masters like Michelangelo and Botticelli, she depicts an array of young subjects with female heads and male bodies. The seamless transition is intended to speak to the gender fluidity of this era.
… In Venus, the artist applies her meticulous technique to blend the “gender composites” compellingly, usually merging the two identities around the neck or shoulders.
To emphasize the realism of these hand-drawn portraits, Newton bases all of the heads and bodies on real-life people. In this way, she is able to capture the depth of their personalities as they direct their gazes in the direction of the viewer, as well as render all of the subtleties in their facial features, hair, and bodies. … read full article
Eight Lessons from the Daughters of Bilitis
In the 1950s, the Daughters of Bilitis banded together to fight widespread homophobia. Here’s how they did it—and how today’s lesbians can do it again.
From The Lesbian Post (USA)
By Lesbians United
May 22, 2022
The Daughters of Bilitis was the first lesbian political organization in the U.S., established in San Francisco in 1955. The organization disbanded in 1970, but its history provides a blueprint for today’s lesbian organizations to follow.
1. They were a grassroots organization. The Daughters of Bilitis wasn’t funded by corporations or career lobbyists. It was a grassroots organization by lesbians, for lesbians. And its members were not well off. Many DOB members supported themselves by working full-time, and donated their time and energy to the fight for lesbian equality. Because it was grassroots and not a nonprofit, the DOB’s members got to determine the organization’s direction, and keep their focus on the issues that concerned them most. … read full article
Hounding of the girl who challenged woke
From The Conservative Woman (UK)

REPORTS about a sixth-former who says she was forced out of her private school because she questioned a visiting speaker about her definition of ‘a woman’ should shock us. The fact that pressure for her to leave came mostly from her peers should trouble us. For many, however, this story was no surprise.
Parents with school-age children know how thoroughly queer theory has infiltrated our institutions. The idea that male and female are damaging social constructs, and you must choose your gender from an ever-increasing number, is now an article of faith for many teenagers.
From academia, through neo-Marxists writers such us Foucault and Butler, into the social sciences and eventually the PSHE lessons of our impressionable young, this cultural revolution seems unstoppable. … read full article
