US - Everybody else understands the role of journalism better than journalists do
From Washington Examiner (USA)
by Zachary Faria
July 16, 2022
Trust in the media has deteriorated over the past several years. Evidently, most people recognize that establishment media outlets don’t trust them.
A recent Pew Research Center poll found that just 44% of U.S. journalists think that “journalists should always strive to give every side equal coverage.” Meanwhile, 55% think that “every side does not deserve equal coverage.” That journalists think their job is to determine which sides “deserve” coverage and not to inform the public isn’t a surprise, given how legacy media have frozen conservatives out on issues that are very much two-sided or more: abortion, gun control, “systemic racism,” religion, and gender ideology. ... read full article

From YouGov (UK)
By John Humphrys
July 15, 2022
It’s always fun trying to imagine how our long-deceased grandparents or even parents might react to the modern age. Simply walking down a busy street would fill them with wonder. Why do so many people have those little deaf aids in their ears and why are they talking to themselves, sometimes in a very agitated way? But it’s not just the relentless march forward of digital technology that has rendered our society incomprehensible to those who lived in an earlier age.
I try to imagine trying to explain to my parents if they were to be reincarnated why one of the issues in the contest to be our next prime minister is whether someone born with a penis can be a woman. The question “What is a woman?” may not be at the top of the debate but it is causing real difficulties for one of the leading contenders in the race to be our next Prime Minister. Is it something that preoccupies you? Should it? ... read full article

On Saturday July 9th Transgender Trend spent the morning in the company of a stellar cast of ground-breaking authors. Today, in a cultural climate where it is heresy to define a woman as an adult human female, to even write a book about menstruation for girls becomes a subversive act, let alone books that critique the idea of gender identity or challenge the medical treatment of children. ... read full article
