"Advised by proponents of gender ideology, and ironically under the guise of safety, the school has chosen to drive a wedge of secrecy and distrust between students and their families."
This day in Herstory: Annie Oakley (born Phoebe Ann Mosey; August 13, 1860 – November 3, 1926) was an American sharpshooter who starred in Buffalo Bill's Wild West show. Oakley developed hunting skills as a child to provide for her impoverished family in western Ohio. At 15, she won a shooting contest against experienced marksman Frank E. Butler, whom she later married in 1876. The pair joined Buffalo Bill in 1885, performing in Europe before royalty and other heads of state. Audiences were astounded to see her shooting out a cigar from her husband's lips or splitting a playing-card edge-on at 30 paces. She also instructed women in marksmanship, believing strongly in female self-defense. (more)
US - Teachers union tells educators to ignore Florida law on not teaching gender identity in schools
"In short, from what we know right now, you can continue with the same practices and procedures you used last year unless given a directive to do otherwise," the union tells teachers.

August 13, 2022
Florida's Department of Education issued a memo to all school districts in late July explaining that they were not required to comply with the Biden administration's proposed changes to and interpretations of Title IX and Title VII. Those changes would require schools that receive federal funding to allow boys and girls access to opposite sex bathrooms if they identify that way. Under Biden's Title VII interpretation, funding would be withheld from lunch programs that do not comply.
The local teachers union, however, backed by the National Education Association which donated heavily to the Biden campaign, then issued their own contradictory guidance in a memo obtained by The Post Millennial. In so doing, they indicated that the "guidance" issued by the Biden administration had actually been enacted as federal law, which it has not been. … read full article

Critical Race Theory (CRT) has rushed to the forefront of political discourse in recent years, especially in the realm of education.

US - Washoe County School District implements policy that keeps the gender identity of students a secret from parents
From Parents Defending Education (USA)
August 13, 2022
On April 3, 2019, the Washoe County School District appeared to update its “Gender Identity” policy to include new rules for teachers and staff when dealing with transgender students. The policy explains that the “goal is to foster the safe and healthy development of the transgender or gender non-conforming student while maximizing the student’s social integration into the school setting and minimizing stigmatization of the student.” The policy specifically mandates that school staff keep the gender identity of students a secret from parents:
Staff shall not disclose information that may reveal a student’s transgender or gender non-conforming status to others, including parents/guardians or other staff members, unless there is a specific “need to know,” they are legally required to do so, or the student has authorized such disclosure. … read full article

US - Lawmaker, Florida school at odds on alleged bathroom attack
From AP News (USA)
By FREIDA FRISARO
August 12, 2022
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Police in Florida say they will investigate a lawmaker’s allegation that a transgender student may have sexually assaulted a female student in a middle school bathroom over the summer — a rumored attack that school district officials say never occurred and that investigators say they received no reports about.
After reading Republican State Rep. Randy Fine’s social media posts about the alleged assault on Thursday, police in the eastern coast city of Melbourne, just south of Cape Canaveral, assigned two detectives to investigate the allegations, though they said they had received no previous word of an attack.
Fine told The Associated Press on Friday that some parents approached him, saying a teacher at the school told them about the incident but that the teacher was “afraid to go public because of fear of retaliation by the school district.” … read full article
US - Laurence Fox fights back against gender identity indoctrination in new documentary
Fox spoke to The Post Millennial about the film, and how he hopes parents will learn about the harms of gender ideology and the insidious way it has been pushed into schools.
From The Post Millennial (Canada)
By Libby Emmons
August 13, 2022
Actor Laurence Fox has released a new documentary to show parents just what they are up against with the infiltration of gender ideology into schools. "Groomed: How Schools Sexualize Your Children" is out from Reclaim the Media, and it's one of a growing number of films intended to fight back against gender identity indoctrination, which had been creeping along under the radar for more than a decade and has now emerged fully formed.
Fox spoke to The Post Millennial about the film, and what he hopes the parents who see it will learn about the harms of gender ideology and the insidious way it has been pushed into schools, and onto children, with parents barely even noticing what was going on. And he hopes parents see that how this indoctrination pushes the sterilizing of teens and young adults under the guise of "affirmation" and "gender euphoria." … read full article
US - Utah GOP calls for a ban on elective gender-affirming medical care for minors
Utah lawmakers are likely to consider legislation after Senate President Stuart Adams and House Speaker Brad Wilson signed on to the resolution.
From The Salt Lake Tribune (USA)
By Bryan Schott
August 13, 2022
Utah Republican Party leadership fired a shot across Gov. Spencer Cox’s bow on Saturday, calling for a ban on elective gender-affirming care for transgender youth. Earlier this year, Cox drew the ire of many in the GOP for vetoing a bill banning the participation of transgender athletes in girls’ sports.
The resolution, sponsored by Utah GOP Chairman Carson Jorgensen, is titled “Protecting our most vulnerable.” It states the Utah GOP “fully supports the banning of affirmation surgeries, hormone therapy, and puberty-blocking procedures for the purpose of elective gender transitioning on minors.” It then unequivocally supports efforts by elected officials to oppose “these harmful and irreversible procedures being performed on Utah’s children.” … read full article
US - Dori: Dad calls summer swim league’s gender changes `child abuse,’ moves family out of WA state
From KIRO News Radio (USA)
By Dori Monson Show
Aug 12, 2022
After more than 40 years, changes coming to the Greater Seattle Summer Swim League for 2,000 kids between Woodway and Federal Way have “destroyed” the seasonal outdoor program, according to one dad who says he’s moving his family out of Washington state to seek athletic fairness for his teen daughter.
That’s what Snohomish County parent Steve Abramowicz told Tuesday’s Dori Monson Show just hours before the man’s family packed up for Tennessee.
The tipping point for his family’s departure? A cluster of GSSSL by-law changes that “allows some pretty sketchy stuff,” according to Abramowicz, who describes himself as “just a concerned dad.”
He cites new rules that mean “girls locker rooms have to open to men” and allow roving “equity officers – unscreened, no background checks” to roam around the league’s 16 swim clubs, asking youth “sexual orientation questions.” … read full article

UK - OPINION: Transitioning Dead Women
From Reduxx (USA)
By Shay Woulahan
August 13, 2022
According to historian Bettany Hughes, of all written and recorded history, only 0.5% is about women despite women consistently making up about 50% of the population.
But though the odds were stacked against them, many incredible women and girls defied the often-oppressive confines of their gender roles to become recognizable household names. This is a positive. After all, little girls having a diverse range of same-sex figures to look up to and be inspired by should be, by all accounts, a good thing. And, surely, no one would stand in opposition to recognizing the great women of history who have such little space to shine as it is, right? … read full article

A couple of years ago, I took one of my sons to see Shakespeare’s As You Like It and The Tempest. The first play, a Royal Shakespeare Company production, made an enormous deal of the fact that the female Rosalind disguises herself as the male Ganymede. How queer! How fluid! Best include an on-stage breast-binding scene and references to Judith Butler in the programme!
The Tempest, meanwhile, was a low-budget, all-female production. It was sharp and funny, playing fast and loose with the original version, and having enormous fun puncturing Prospero’s (and by extension, Shakespeare’s) pretensions to magic-making. The production made no claims to being political, but gender politics were everywhere. … read full article

UK - Why are women frightened of men?

Update. I wrote this in November 2015. Nothing’s changed, except that more men than ever are pretending to be women, and mocking and attacking women who dare to say that they are still frightened of them.
Recently, a man posted what he himself described as a rant on the Spotted in Cardiff facebook page to complain about having had his feelings hurt by a woman running away from him as he walked home in the early hours of the morning. This was only a few days after Cardiff police warned women in the city to be very careful, following three attacks by men on women in five days. … read full article

A surprising number of people believe the Earth is flat. They say it’s a disc with the North Pole at its centre, while the Antarctic is actually a wall of ice that keeps the oceans in. The flat Earth movement has gained extraordinary traction in the 21st century, as the internet has allowed adherents to create a sort of ecosystem around their beliefs, where they only interact with those who affirm them. A 2019 poll found that some 7 per cent of the population of Brazil — 11 million people — believe the earth is flat. Observers say that the movement is fuelled by an anti-scientific backlash, conspiracy theories and conviction bordering on religiosity. … read full article

It was not solely an issue of religious freedom, but one that also managed to undermine feminism in its most basic sense. … read full article
