"The idea that there is such a thing as a trans child is appalling propaganda ... and that a four-year-old girl could actually be a trans boy is bonkers beyond belief."
This day in Herstory: Rosalind Elsie Franklin, born July 25, 1920 (died April 16, 1958), was a British chemist and X-ray crystallographer whose work was central to the understanding of the molecular structures of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), RNA (ribonucleic acid), viruses, coal, and graphite. Although her works on coal and viruses were appreciated in her lifetime, her contributions to the discovery of the structure of DNA were largely unrecognized during her life, for which she has been variously referred to as the "wronged heroine", the "dark lady of DNA", the "forgotten heroine", a "feminist icon", and the "Sylvia Plath of molecular biology". NBC News reported that the poll was a “major set of red flags” for Democrats and teachers’ unions because the respondents agreed with much of the anti-Critical Race Theory, anti-indoctrination, and pro-parental rights policies that Republicans are advocating in favor of in states such as Florida and Virginia. ... read full article

US - Elementary School Being Built With Complete Genderless Bathrooms
From Go2Tutors (USA)
By Jessica Marie Baumgartner
July 25, 2022
The John M. Gandy Elementary School is being built to serve families in Ashland, Virginia. It is set to open for the 2024-2025 school year, but its design is the first of the Hanover Public Schools to pander to gender theory. Instead of building the typical sex-segregated restroom spaces, this new school has plans to provide genderless bathrooms for students K-5.
The architecture design was approved by Crabtree, Rohrbaugh, & Associates, a firm hired to add genderless bathrooms due to federal pressure to promote “equity” and gender inclusion in public schools. The youngest students in kindergarten and first grade will have single-use genderless bathrooms available in every classroom, but for students in second through fifth grade, the design includes stalls that are enclosed from floor to ceiling. Sinks and mirrors are to be set in the hallway, so that students have complete privacy while going to the bathroom, but none if they need to comb their hair or wash their face. ... read full article
US - FDA warns of brain swelling and permanent vision loss found in children taking puberty blockers
"The agency considered the cases clinically serious and, based on these reviews, determined that pseudotumor cerebri (idiopathic intracranial hypertension) should be added as a warning ... for use in pediatric patients," said the FDA.
From The Post Millennial (USA)
By Christina Buttons
July 25, 2022
The FDA recently added a warning to gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists—known to most as "puberty blockers"—after having identified a serious potential side effect for some that may cause a dangerous surge of spinal fluid pressure in the brain, that can cause headaches, nausea, double vision, and even permanent vision loss.
The FDA identified 6 cases in females ages 5-12 years old who were diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri after taking GnRH agonists. Pseudotumor cerebri, also known as idiopathic intracranial hypertension, literally means "false brain tumor" because the signs and symptoms in affected patients are similar to those of a large brain tumor. An FDA spokesperson said that during a review of the published literature for the clinical use of Lupron Depot-PED (leuprorelin), several research papers described the development of pseudotumor cerebri in children who had been treated with puberty-blocking medications. ... read full article

July 25, 2022
Twitter suspended the parental-rights organization Moms for Liberty on Monday for posting a tweet that accused backers of a California “gender-affirming healthcare” bill of endangering children by facilitating out-of-state tourism for youth gender-transition treatments.
The tweet, which is no longer visible on the site, read: “Gender dysphoria is a mental health disorder that is being normalized by predators across the USA. California kids are at extreme risk from predatory adults. Now they want to ‘liberate’ children all over the country. Does a double mastectomy on a preteen sound like progress?” ... read full article

US - There’s More Than One Way to Ban a Book
From The New York Times (USA)
By Pamela Paul
July 24, 2022
In the 1950s, Vladimir Nabokov’s “Lolita” was banned in France, Britain and Argentina, but not in the United States, where its publisher, Walter Minton, released the book after multiple American publishing houses rejected it.
Minton is part of a noble tradition. Over the years, American publishers have fought back against efforts to repress a wide range of works — from Charles Darwin’s “On the Origin of Species” to Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.” Just last year, Simon & Schuster defended its book deal with former Vice President Mike Pence, despite a petition signed by more than 200 Simon & Schuster employees and other book professionals demanding that the publishing house cancel the deal. The publisher, Dana Canedy, and chief executive, Jonathan Karp, held firm. … read full article

During the last week of school before summer break my son’s 4th grade teacher asked the students in the class to write something down on a piece of paper. She asked them to write a problem they were having or what was on their minds.

As a teacher, I attended the National Education Association convention last week, and my worst fears were confirmed.
Public schools are no longer a safe place for families who hold traditional values or for families who believe gender (as in male/female binary) is biologically determined.
It was also evident that the teachers union is a lobbying arm of the Democratic Party.

Stonewall is in trouble again. At the weekend the LGBT charity tweeted the extraordinary claim that ‘research suggests children as young as two recognise their trans identity’. The tweet linked to an article in the Metro, written by the mother of a four-year-old who says that her daughter’s nursery does not respect her ‘gender non-conformity’. Within hours of being posted, the tweet attracted scathing criticism from politicians across the political spectrum, fellow charities, medical professionals and child-safeguarding specialists. ... read full article

UK - Stonewall thinks two-year-olds can be trans
Once again the charity embraces an extreme ideology
From The Post by UnHerd (UK)
By Julie Bindel
July 25, 2022
Last week, Stonewall, the former lesbian and gay rights charity turned trans activist, jumped the shark. In a tweet remarking on a newspaper report about a parent concerned that their four-year-old was not being “validated” in her “trans identity”, Stonewall claimed that:
“Research suggests that children as young as 2 recognise their trans identity. Yet, many nurseries and schools teach a binary understanding of pre-assigned gender. LGBTQ-inclusive and affirming education is crucial for the wellbeing of all young people!”
Just: wow. The idea that there is such a thing as a trans child is appalling propaganda, but nevertheless, even if we were to believe in the anti-scientific notion that one can be “born in the wrong body”, and that a four-year-old girl could actually be a trans boy is bonkers beyond belief. ... read full article
