"Supposedly leftish agitators used to dream of revolting against capitalism – now they rage against revolting women who say heretical things about sex and gender." - Brendan O’Neill (in Spiked)
This day in Herstory: To Kill a Mockingbird was first published on July 11, 1960. The novel by the American author Harper Lee was instantly successful. In the United States, it is widely read in high schools and middle schools. To Kill a Mockingbird has become a classic of modern American literature, winning the Pulitzer Prize. The plot and characters are loosely based on Lee's observations of her family, her neighbors and an event that occurred near her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama, in 1936, when she was ten. (more)
US - California ex-trans teen backs Florida ban on Medicaid funds for transgender medical interventions
Chloe Cole said she may not be able to have children and is at higher risk for cancer because of transgender medical interventions
From Fox News (USA)
By Tyler O’Neil
July 10, 2022
A California teen girl who once identified as transgender and took hormones and underwent surgery to affirm such an identity spoke out in favor of a Florida rule blocking Medicaid funds from paying for medical interventions for gender dysphoria.
"I really didn’t understand all of the ramifications of any of the medical decisions that I was making," Chloe Cole, 17, said at a public hearing Friday. She said she was medically transitioned from ages 13 to 16, taking so-called puberty-blocking drugs and testosterone, and undergoing surgery to remove her breasts at age 15. "I was unknowingly physically cutting off my true self from my body, irreversibly and painfully." ... read full article
US - Moderates are no longer welcome in the Democratic Party
From Washington Examiner (USA)
By Katelynn Richardson
July 11, 2022
Democrats love supporting women — unless those women defend their identity and deny the idea that males can become females.
Maud Maron is a centrist Democratic candidate in New York’s 10th Congressional District. She’s pushed back on COVID policies that kept children masked in schools into 2022. She calls for investment in law enforcement rather than defunding the police. She publicly questions gender ideology and opposes including men in women’s sports (her Twitter bio includes #IStandWithJKRowling). Yet she remains, as Suzy Weiss called her, “one of those classic big-city liberals — pro-choice, a longtime public defender at Legal Aid, a Bernie Sanders contributor.” ... read full article
US - J.K. Rowling Slams Men 'Policing' Women's Trans Comments
From Newsweek (USA)
By JAMIE BURTON
July 11, 2022
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has continued the debate surrounding recent comments by singer Macy Gray regarding trans women, slamming men who she said are "policing" women's speech.
Last week, Gray made controversial comments regarding the definition of a woman, something which Rowling has also been accused of in the past. During an interview with Piers Morgan, Gray said, "And I will say this, and everybody's gonna hate me, but as a woman, just because you go change your parts doesn't make you a woman. Sorry." ... read full article
US - Debunking Veronica Ivy's False Claims About Trans Women in Female Sports
From Reality’s Last Stand (USA)
By Colin Wright
July 11, 2022
On July 1, Canadian male athlete and trans rights activist Veronica Ivy (formerly Rachel McKinnon) sat down with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show to discuss the debate surrounding the inclusion of trans women in female sports. Ivy, a trans woman, became the first male athlete to win the UCI Women’s Masters Track World Championship in the 35–44 age bracket, and has been a leading voice arguing for including trans women in female sports.
In all honesty, I was fully prepared to witness Noah be a doormat and capitulate to every one of Ivy’s talking points, but was pleasantly surprised at some his honest, common sense pushback. To be clear, it was obvious that Noah was walking a very narrow tightrope littered with eggshells over a field of landmines. He could not simply ask a straightforward question, but was forced to place considerable distance between himself and the questions he was asking by framing them as “SOME people might argue that X, and what would you say to THOSE people?” ... read full article
US - Trans Sex Offender Loses Bid to Remove “Deadname” from Registry
From REDUXX (USA)
By Jennifer Seiland
July 11, 2022
A transgender sex offender who sexually assaulted a disabled teen boy has lost a bid to remove his male identity from the registry after claiming “deadnaming” was a form of cruel and unusual punishment that prevented him from exercising his “right to self-expression as being a female.”
The offender, who is currently 22 years old, has only been identified as “Ella” due to his crime having involved a minor. “Ella” has been fighting for a name change for over a year, with his previous attempt being denied by the Wisconsin State Court of Appeals in January 2021. ... read full article

The distortion of bodily autonomy
From BROADVIEW with Lisa Selin Davis (USA)
By Lisa Selin Davis
July 11, 2022
Like many of you, I’m devastated about the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Clearly it was a flawed decision in the first place, and the Democrats made mistakes that Republicans—or rather, the extremists on the Supreme Court—took advantage of. But it was necessary for women to have equality with men. I am willing to concede that abortion is a murky and complicated issue, and have written about how the left wing’s discourse on it rendered me unprepared for the reality of the actual procedure. I was in the “safe, legal and rare” camp, and was perfectly comfortable with certain restrictions. Apparently I am a moderate? Or perhaps I became one once the rest of the party veered hard to the left. ... read full article

The entrance to the Vagina Museum in Bethnal Green is a black hole in a wall down an alley—you wouldn’t know it was there unless someone told you.
Florence Schechter opened it in March 2022 to “spread knowledge of gynecological anatomy in a trans inclusive way and erase stigma of said gynecological anatomy.” I went there last week curious to know how she puts the MEN in menstruation and the GUY into gynecology. ... read full article
US - La Leche League Policies or Religious Freedom: Choose One
From Mothersformother (USA)
July 11, 2022
As Leaders throughout the U.S. and other countries sit down to sign their yearly Statements of Commitment, they are faced with a perplexing dilemma. At one time this was an easy task. From their early days as newly accredited Leaders through many years of signing, this has usually been a quick read and signature.
This is what you agree to in order to call yourself a Leader:
I am personally committed to furthering the mission of LLL and to supporting breastfeeding as presented in The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding and other LLLI publications. I understand and agree that in using the designation “La Leche League Leader,” and in representing La Leche League, I will comply with the most recently published version of the La Leche League Policies and Standing Rules as posted on the LLLI website. ... read full article
UK - “Trans” Conservative Politician Convicted on Fleeing Site of Car Crash
From REDUXX (USA)
By Shay Woulahan
July 11, 2022
A Conservative Member of Parliament who was previously under fire for owning a “sugar daddies” website which exploited financially vulnerable young women has been convicted for fleeing the scene of a car accident in November 2021. The conviction comes just months after the politician came out as “transgender.”
Jamie Wallis, who has represented the riding of Bridgend since 2019, had initially pleaded not guilty to four offenses including failing to stop, failing to report a road traffic collision, driving without due care and attention and leaving a vehicle in a dangerous position. He was found guilty on three of the four offenses today. ... read full article
UK - Bad Penny
Mordaunt should be more open about her role in the gender wars
From The Critic (UK)
By Josephine Bartosch
July 11, 2022
Even a battle-aged jihadi could be forgiven for allowing a tear to roll down his bearded cheek after watching Penny Mordaunt’s campaign video. On Sunday, the prime ministerial hopeful launched a leadership bid with all the patriotic bluster of a Hovis-advert.
In a three-minute film, Britain is portrayed as a nation of shopkeepers, farmers and primary school teachers smiling under the benevolent gaze of Tory titans including Churchill and Thatcher. A soothing narrator, with an accent last heard on a 1980s “Protect and Survive” broadcast, tells the Tory faithful, “In this contest there will be a focus on policy and what we will do. But there must be focus on who we are.” Given this it is fair to ask, who exactly is Penny Mordaunt? ... read full article
UK - Penny Mordaunt and the Tory transgender divide
From The Spectator (UK)
By Debbie Hayton
July 11, 2022
As war rages in Europe and inflation rockets, the Tory party is tearing itself apart in its hunt for a new leader. Only days into the contest, the transgender debate is emerging as a key issue that divides the candidates. It's a mistake to think of it as a niche issue: the question of women's toilets and pronouns has the power to derail a leadership bid, as Penny Mordaunt may soon find out.
Suella Braverman, the Attorney General and one of the leadership hopefuls, has been clear in her frustration about the impact this debate has had on her. Last year, Braverman made history as the first cabinet minister to take maternity leave. Legislation needed to be passed, but it was not without controversy. ... read full article
UK - Macy Gray and the poison of cancel culture
Gray has been defamed and threatened simply for speaking the truth.
From Spiked (UK)
By Brendan O’Neill
July 11, 2022
When today’s radicals were fresh-faced youths, reading their Gramsci and putting up their Malcolm X posters, I wonder if they could ever have imagined that their proudest achievement in the year 2022 would be to make a black woman shut her trap? Supposedly leftish agitators used to dream of revolting against capitalism – now they rage against revolting women who say heretical things about sex and gender. Their latest target is the great Macy Gray. She sinned. She was seen consorting with TERFs. Men, she said, cannot become women, a vile calumny in the eyes of the high priests of the gender cult. And so she had to be taken down a peg or two, this nasty woman, this uppity broad. ... read full article
UK - We are failing rape victims
The vulnerable are sacrificed to indulge the entitled
From The Critic (UK)
By Ellen Pasternack
July 10, 2022
Rape victims deserve sympathy. Feminists don’t agree on everything, but we ought to expect consensus on that. It is a remarkable achievement of the feminist movement that the public has almost universally come around to this view, after centuries of sexual violence being seen largely as a property crime against women’s husbands or fathers.
In recent years, though, a new constituency has emerged whose claims to victimhood seem to take priority. That group is males who wish to be seen as female.
When this group was first formally recognised in Britain’s 2004 Gender Recognition Act, legislators took it as read that these males were not literally female. Transgender people were to be treated as their chosen sex, except in the case of sports and, tellingly, peerages — a male is still eligible for male primogeniture after achieving “recognition” as a woman, while a female can never be. ... read full article

Former equalities minister announced last week that all public buildings in England should have separate facilities for males and females

Kemi Badenoch, the Tory leadership candidate, has described how civil servants attempted to thwart her bid to scrap gender neutral toilets.
The former equalities minister announced last week that all public buildings in England should have separate male and female toilets.
She told the Commons last Monday that gender neutral toilets and facilities put women at a “significant disadvantage” and should be scrapped in new office buildings, schools, hospitals and entertainment venues. ... read full article
South Africa - Legal storm brews in hate speech row over ‘transphobic’ article in SA Jewish Report
An opinion piece published in the South African Jewish Report, titled ‘There’s no Pride to be found in gender ideology’, has caused a furore, with legal counsel being sought to pursue the matter.
From Daily Maverick (South Africa)

July 11, 2022
Individuals and organisations that provide services to and support LGBTQI+ communities are organising to launch formal complaints of hate speech against the South African Jewish Report (SAJR), which published an opinion piece under the headline “There’s no Pride to be found in gender ideology” on 30 June 2022.
The author, Adam Sachs, who is described in the biography that appeared on the original item as “a specialist in digital product development”, states in the article that he doesn’t care if “a 40-year-old man wants to castrate himself and dress in women’s clothes”, but that children aren’t capable of consenting to “their own castration, sterilisation, and the consequent erasure of their future sexual potential as men or women”. … read full article

Dear Administrator,
Last night, we sat across from each other at a dinner given to volunteers of my daughter’s school. You are always so pleasant and affable and I know you are very hard working. I had (note the past tense) a lot of respect for you - until last night.
It was the moment you leaned over to whisper to the administrator sitting beside you. And then you turned to me and asked about my daughter - using her real name. That’s the moment I lost all respect for you, because clearly you were checking with the other admin over which name to use to my face. ... read full article
