The Supreme Court decision in the Keira Bell case is not a loss
From Transgender Trend (UK)
May 6, 2022
The decision by the Supreme Court to deny Keira Bell and Mrs A permission to appeal the Court of Appeal judgment is disappointing. But it is not a loss. Keira Bell has already won. The evidence in the judgment made in the original judicial review has been vindicated again and again both in the UK and across the world. The influence of the case has been far-reaching and has effected real change globally. This decision does not change that. … read full article

The Gender-Affirming House of Cards
The Unstable Foundations of a So-Called Medical Consensus
From Year Zero (USA)
By Lisa Selin Davis
May 6, 2022
Today’s guest post by Lisa Selin Davis notes that the claims for the efficacy of gender affirming care” for children and adolescents is founded on a grand total of two studies of 70 adolescents treated with puberty blockers whose questionable methodology a recent study scrutinized and found wanting. …
Earlier this week, Republican Senator Mike Braun questioned U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra about the hot topic of gender-affirming care for children and adolescents. “In what case would it be appropriate to perform irreversible sex change surgeries on kids?” Braun asked Becerra.
Becerra assured Braun that the FDA wouldn’t approve interventions like cross-sex hormones or mastectomies if they weren’t safe and effective, and that trans youth are getting “the life-affirming care that they need,” noting that many have taken their lives. … read full article

A progressive activist has suggested Mother's Day be renamed to reflect how transgender men are now classified as giving birth.
Norrie May-Welby, who was born a male and had gender reassignment surgery at age 28, said the term 'mother' was not exclusive to females.
'It's not sex specific. I think mothering is instinctual in all mammals, regardless of biological sex,' the activist told Daily Mail Australia. … read full article
‘Inclusive’ language on maternity care risks excluding many women
When discussing inherently sexed processes such as pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding, there are risks to desexing language, writes Prof Jenny Gamble
From The Guardian (UK) (Letters)
By Jenny Gamble
May 6, 2022
Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett’s article emphasised the importance of respectful, individualised maternity care, including in the language used to address transgender people (The language of maternity is alive and well – so why not expand it to include trans parents, 5 May). This idea is entirely uncontroversial. What has become contentious, however, is whether terms like “women” and “mothers” should be used in a broader sense, including in health communication and policy or replaced with other words that do not reference the female sex.
It is a well-established principle of communication that the sex of individuals should be made visible when relevant and should not be made visible when not. This ensures that sex-related needs and issues are not overlooked and sex stereotyping is avoided. As I and others outline in a recent paper in Frontiers in Global Women’s Health, when discussing inherently sexed processes like pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding, there are risks to desexing language. … read full article
Biden's gender-transition agenda is harming children
From Washington Examiner (USA)
By Washington Examiner
May 06, 2022
"There is no argument among medical professionals — pediatricians, pediatric endocrinologists, adolescent medicine physicians, adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, etc. — about the value and the importance of gender-affirming care,” U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine told NPR recently. This was Levine’s way of saying that it is actually harmful not to gender-transition boys into being girls and vice versa, even though that often means permanent mutilation of a child’s body and irreversible hormonal treatments.
With the assertion that there is "no argument," Levine is using a fallacy called “proof by assertion” — as if the forceful repetition of a controversial statement can make it true. This is a concerted effort by the Biden administration and the gender-transition industry to quell a raging debate among medical professionals and researchers, many of whom strongly disagree. It requires the most tendentious interpretation of the available scientific evidence to assert that it is helpful to administer puberty blockers, hormone treatments, or surgery to children — or even to believe that those are genuinely “affirming” forms of care as Levine described it. … read full article

A trans-identified male has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after forcing his 7-year-old daughter to participate in the creation of child sexual abuse material.
Marina Volz, born Matthew, was arrested in 2019 after the New Jersey Department of Child Protection became aware he was creating pornography in a home where a child resided.
A search warrant was executed at the property after it was found the child had likely been exposed to sexually explicit material, and electronic devices were subsequently seized. During forensic examination of the devices, several sexually-explicit photos and videos of the child were found. (more)

Plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures are now largely a part of my life. Librarians Exposed! Librarians Advise Each Other On How to Remove Matt Walsh’s Children’s Book From Collections or Keep Them Out
From MadMommaBear Blog (USA)
Pushing Back Against the Neo-Morality Movement
By MadMommaBear
May 6, 2022
Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire published a book that parodies the gender transition of children. He uses imagination and humor to illustrate the absurdity of what doctors and parents are doing to young children in the name of “affirmative care”. Librarians, being the agents of social change that they are have been plotting online about how to keep the book from getting into the hands of children. So, for the record, it is okay for books like “I am Jazz” which tells kids a child can be born with a girl brain and boy body to be in the children’s section but a book about a boy who feels like a walrus but finds out that he is perfect as a boy, in the end, is not suitable for the children’s section according to librarians, the majority of whom are trained by American Library Association to be agents of change in their communities for social justice, liberalism and LGBTQ “rights”. … read full article
The emptiness of being queer
Sexual libertarians and rainbow bureaucrats created the perfect racket
From UnHerd (UK)
By KATHLEEN STOCK
May 6, 2022
What does “queer” mean to you? For many older gays and transsexuals, it’s an unpleasant reminder of past homophobic encounters, some of them physically threatening. Yet thanks to its positive recuperation over the last 30 years, today queerness means something completely different. It’s now an umbrella “identity”, covering everything that’s non-standard and non-vanilla in the sexual world, from boring old lesbians to more brilliant non-binaries, demisexuals, kink-lovers, and beyond. … read full article
Joanna Cherry challenges Nicola Sturgeon to Gender Recognition Act debate
From The National (Scotland)
By Steph Brawn
May 5, 2022
JOANNA Cherry has challenged Nicola Sturgeon and Ruth Davidson to a public debate on Gender Recognition Act (GRA) reform after both declined to define what a woman is.
The First Minister, who last year described herself as “feminist to my fingertips”, received criticism this week after she said defining what a woman is would “oversimplify” the debate on transgender rights and risk harming trans people.

Feminism has always been gender critical
Historical feminists knew better than anyone that biological sex is real
From The Critic (UK)
By Victoria Smith
May 6, 2022
Why can’t the feminists of today be more like the feminists of the past? Feminists such as Mary Wollstonecraft, the suffragettes or one of the other ones, whose names I forget.
Historical feminists have a lot to recommend them. One, they’re dead, so they’re not going to make any new demands; two, their menfolk are dead, so you can blame them for the lingering impact of patriarchy; three, they were women, so it’s not as though you have to read anything they wrote. Just watch Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins, or failing that, make stuff up. … read full article

How gender ideology is undermining the feminist arguments for abortion
From Washington Examiner (USA)
Kaylee McGhee
May 06, 2022
For years, the pro-abortion rights movement has been a radically feminist cause. Now, however, many of its proponents can’t even bring themselves to say the word “woman.”
Take, for example, this Washington Post editorial about the leaked draft opinion that revealed the Supreme Court might strike down Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. The editorial blasts the decision, which is not final, as “a grievous blow to freedom” and “the legitimacy of the court itself” and mourns the potential loss of abortion rights in some states as an attack on … "pregnant people." … read full article
